Overview
Synopsis
At the beginning of the British Industrial Revolution, Ada Byron Lovelace, a fiery young inventor and the daughter of poet Lord Byron, discovers the creative potential of “analytical engines”. With her friend and soulmate Charles Babbage’s invention of the first mechanical computer, Ada dreams of a new world where art and technology meet. With the mind of a mathematician and the heart of a poet, Ada often feels confined by the societal rules for women of her day, but she is confident that she will make her mark on this world. Ada and the Machine is a music-filled story about love, friendship, and dreams for the future. Featuring a small cast and flexible casting, Ada and the Machine is an intelligent play about historical figures that provides a Jane Austen-esque romance story during the heralding of the computer age
