Overview

Synopsis

Neil LaBute’s Fat Pig tells the story of Tom, a young professional who falls for a self-confident and overweight librarian named Helen. When Tom’s friend Carter catches wind of the new relationship, he shows a picture of Helen to everyone in the office--forcing Tom to make a decision about how he will handle the social pressures of dating a “fat pig.”

Fat Pig premiered off-Broadway in 2005 and opened to positive reviews. It won the Outer Critics’ Circle Award in 2005 as well as a nomination for an Olivier in 2008. Neil LaBute, an already celebrated American playwright, was praised in New York Magazine as “arguably the most legitimately provocative and polarizing playwright at work today.” With insightful moments and morally gray areas, Fat Pig makes a wonderfully thought-provoking addition to any theater season!
