Downstage Dead follows a doomed student-directed play, "The Buzz Beyond," and its bumbling cast of high school students who never come to rehearsals and refuse to learn their lines. Together with their disgruntled director, they make a hot mess of the show about scheming servants who have murdered their rich boss lady and might now have to tangle with her angry ghost. The whole fiasco comes crashing down on opening night when one of the actors goes missing and the director's best friend must blindly take the stage to save the day. This comedy is written in two acts finding us first as flies on the wall for play practice, and later as audience members for "The Buzz Beyond's" disastrous debut. It is written for a cast of 8 women and 4 men with an approximate running time of 90 minutes.
