Many years after the success of the 1992 Disney animated classic of the same name, Aladdin made its way to the stage and opened at The New Amsterdam Theatre on Broadway in 2014. MTI had already released a condensed stage version of Aladdin JR in years prior for children, based firmly on the 1992 film. After the resounding success of the Broadway production, MTI adjusted the script they had created to more closely follow the Broadway version which introduces new characters such as Aladdin’s best friends, Babkak, Omar, and Kassim, as well as new music written for the stage production.
