A one-hour youth edition of The SpongeBob Musical was created in 2018 specifically for young actors, based on the original show. SpongeBob SquarePants, also known as SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway/NEW Musical, is a musical stage production based on the popular cartoon series of the same name. Premiering on June 7, 2016 at the Oriental Theatre in Chicago, SpongeBob ran until July 10 before transferring to the Palace Theatre on Broadway.
