Overview

Synopsis

Emily Bridges is a tough woman who can take on anything. She runs her own construction company, she’s been married for decades to her husband, John, and her daughter’s wedding is fast approaching. But when Emily falls victim to a mysterious disease that gradually robs her of her senses--first smell, then taste, sight, and hearing--the fiercely independent woman becomes increasingly reliant on those around her. As she is loses her ability to physically interact with the outside world, she discovers deep wells of feeling within herself for the people she loves, who in turn discover a poignant appreciation all the wonderful sights and sounds around them. Adam Bock’s A Small Fire is a bittersweet depiction of a couple navigating the unknowns of illness in a play that is funny, heartbreaking, fresh, and deeply moving.
