Overview

Synopsis

It is July 2029, nine years after The Incident. The Clarks and the Coopers are neighbors but they could not be more different. Violet Clark’s backyard is a whimsical explosion of color with a lush vegetable garden and apple tree. However, the Coopers’ yard is a practical, well-used space with hunting tools, a chicken coop, and a goat tied to a post. Their yards are separated by a nine foot fence and each household has their allotted time outside. Sara Clark and Bobby Cooper do not therefore know the other exists until Bobby sneaks out to listen over the fence. The Clarks and the Coopers hold a deep-seated grudge against each other but, thanks to their children, perhaps now is the time to let go of the past.

“If we are ready to tear down the walls that confine us, break the cage that imprisons us, we will discover what our wings are for.”

- Michael Elmore-Meegan
