Henry VI Part 1 is thought to have been written in 1591. Some believe that Shakespeare wrote it in collaboration with Christopher Marlowe and Thomas Nashe, who were contemporaries of Shakespeare and successful playwrights as well.
Henry VI Part 1 is the first of the trilogy of plays chronicling the War of the Roses, although it is thought that the plays were written out of order. This play focuses on how the British political system was being torn apart after the death of the highly successful Henry V, due to jealousy, greed, and pettiness within the aristocracy.
