Inspired by the nightmare that every parent has at some point, Still Waters looks at the shattering and heartbreaking effect of grief. Gabrielle is haunted by troubling dreams following the death of her young daughter in a tragic drowning accident. Her husband, Raoul, is equally distraught and has not come to terms with his daughter’s death. He’s also ripped apart by the fact that Gabrielle dreams that their daughter is a monster coming to get her. Still Waters is a moving battle between two broken, hurting people lashing out to try and handle their pain.
Note: There is a brief, silent appearance by the ghost of their daughter towards the end of the play, however this could be achieved through projection or some other stagecraft technique to make this play a two-hander.
