Overview
Synopsis
Born as one of six sisters in Afghanistan to poor but loving parents, Nasime and her family don’t have it easy. In Afghanistan, only males can be educated and employed, so Nasime is raised from the age of five as a boy. She goes to school, works, helps support her family, and, despite her family’s financial struggles, loves everything about her life. However, when she turns seventeen, her father informs her that he has arranged a match for her. Nasime then has to (re)learn how to be a girl in a traditional environment, confront that fact that her best friend (who thinks she’s a boy) is now her fiance, and figure out who she truly is. *Note: It would be better if this were cast with the correct ethnicities, but it has a history of multi-ethnic casting to play Afghans.
