The motto is "We play books"! Literary templates are the hallmark of the Altona Theater, which, after a checkered history and a few moves, is at home in the center of Altona. Hardly any other theater is so representative of its district and at the same time has such a strong appeal beyond Hamburg's urban area. Successes on stage such as "Mephisto", "Goethe's All Works ... slightly shortened" or bestsellers such as "The Kangaroo Chronicles" and "The Centennial Who Climbed Out of the Window" disappeared into cult status. Successful authors and stage versions created especially for the theater underline the quality of the house.
The theater also offers a supporting program that gives the visitor a look behind the scenes and provides information and emotions about the respective productions. On Wednesdays, Young Friends Day offers great theater for a small price for pupils and students (up to and including 27 years). In the foreplay you will learn more about the play, the author or the concept of the stage design from the dramaturges. During the public rehearsals on selected Saturdays, the actors can look over their shoulders without makeup while rehearsing!
