Diamond Head Theatre began in 1915 as a company of theatergoers known as “The Footlights”. Later we changed our name to “Honolulu Community Theatre” and in 1990 to Diamond Head Theatre.
Diamond Head Theatre is a true community center—from the actors on stage, to the musicians in the orchestra pit, to the backstage production crews; from the directors and designers to the volunteers who usher, tend the gardens and sew our costumes—we’ve got great people who make Diamond Head Theatre a part of their lives. Each and every production is built with thousands of volunteer hours — even the actors and actresses are volunteers. With year-round classes in dancing, acting and singing; an extensive summer school for children and teens, and a youth performing troupe called the Diamond Head Theatre Shooting Stars, education continues to be a big part of our mission.
