The Failand Drama Circle was formed in 1954 and the first show was a combined concert of two one act plays. The Drama Circle also incorporated a pantomime group, and the first staged panto swiftly followed. Rehearsal time at Failand Village Hall Since then, the club has presented almost a hundred productions including plays, pantomimes and musicals.
Over the years, we have always strived to move forward in the quality of our productions with improvements in lighting, scenery, sound and (even) acting! We have been nominated for several awards, either individually or as a group, and are very proud to have two prestigious Rose Bowl Awards. “Robin Hood (Prince in Tights)” was awarded Best Variety / Review / Pantomime for its 2007 production, and one of our members Lisa Mason was awarded a Rose Bowl for the category of Best Actress in a Musical for her title role in “Hello, Dolly” in 2009. We also won a Somerset Fellowship of Drama award for our 2013 production of “Calendar Girls”.
