Sacred Heart School for the Arts offers classes designed to teach the basic concepts of acting and theatre through age-appropriate exercises and games. Students develop the three basic tools of the actor: voice, body and imagination.
As a performance-based school, all students in Beginning, Intermediate and Youth Drama classes participate in full-length, staged productions that are performed at the SHSA Recital Hall or the historic auditorium, the Ursuline Arts Center.
Students in the fall and spring session of Beginning Drama produce a showcase at the end of each semester. Students in Intermediate and Youth Drama produce two shows a year. Participation in productions helps the students cultivate their creativity, develop value in practice and perseverance, and advance in teamwork and leadership skills.
