Artists from Suburbia was founded in 2015 as a new community-based arts venture and proud member of the Eastern Massachusetts Association of Community Theaters. The idea was simple; to take the kind of theatre company that overruns our major cultural hubs like New York City and Boston, and bring it to the small town of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts. With generous funding from the East Bridgewater Arts Council, our premiere production of Roald Dahl's "The Witches" featured thirteen local actors alongside over thirty handmade puppets in an original, multimedia storytelling format. The show played to packed audiences at the newly renovated Center at Sachem Rock. We are overwhelmed by the generosity of local cultural councils who continue to fund and support our work, allowing us to reach out to even more communities and offer even more artistic and theatrical opportunities. We will continue to present unique theatrical performances that challenge local artists and audiences to try something new and question what truly defines a theatrical production.
