Biography
Bryan Adams
Bryan Adams is Canadian rock singer-songwriter, photographer, and social activist. He taught himself how to play the guitar at a young age and pursued a full-time music career at the age of 16. He met Jim Vallance, a Canadian musician, songwriter, and producer, early in his career and the duo became longstanding writing partners.
In 1980 Adams released his self-titled first album and went on a four-month Canadian tour. Hit singles throughout the 1980s included, “Straight from the Heart,” “Cuts Like a Knife,” and “This Time.” In 1983 Adams confirmed his success by performing as the opening act for the American rock band Journey during its huge US tour. His fourth album, Reckless (1984), was his most successful. Adams carried on writing hit singles into the 1990s and 2000s. In 2018, Adams and Vallance wrote the score for Pretty Woman: The Musical, a stage version of the hit 1990 film. The show premiered in Chicago in March 2018 and transferred to Broadway later that year. In 2020 Pretty Woman: The Musical premiered in London's West End.
