Kate Prince MBE is a British choreographer, and the founder/director of ZooNation. Born in 1974 in Southampton, Prince was drawn to dance at an early age. She is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh MA General Arts program and has an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Winchester. In 2002, she founded ZooNation, a theatrical company known for creating full length narrative dance productions with strong influences from hip hop culture and music. Some of Prince’s most notable works include Into the Hoods (2008), Some Like It Hip Hop (2011), and Sylvia (2023).
Prince is an associate artist at Sadler’s Wells and The Old Vic in London, and has been nominated for 2 Olivier awards for Best Theatre Choreography (2009 for Into the Hoods and 2018 for Everybody’s Talking About Jamie). In 2019, Prince was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to dance.
