Nick Jones is an American playwright, screenwriter, and actor originally from Anchorage, Alaska. He graduated from Bard College with a BA in Creative Writing before completing a playwriting degree at Juilliard. He began his career with Jollyship the Whiz-Bang, a rock puppet musical he wrote and performed in. His best-known play is Trevor, a comedy about a washed-up show business chimpanzee. The play won Jones the LA Drama Critics Circle Award and the Ovation Award for Playwriting.
Jones’s work has been commissioned at Lincoln Center, Manhattan Theater Club, and The Old Globe, among others. Internationally, he has produced work at theatres in Bangkok and Taipei. Jones also writes for television, most notably the Netflix series Orange is the New Black and GLOW. He has been nominated for multiple Writers Guild of America awards for both shows and an Emmy Award for GLOW. He is based in Los Angeles.
