Douglas Craven is a Canadian writer and teacher. He is originally from Southwestern Ontario and attended Huron University, graduating with a degree in English. He then attended the University of Western Ontario, where he completed a Bachelor of Education degree in English and Drama and a Masters degree in English. He taught Drama, English, and Communications Technology for 33 years in Whitby, Ontario before retiring. He teaches part-time at Durham College.
Craven’s plays are geared toward middle and high schools. They are published by Playscripts and include both dramas and comedies. His comedies include Monkey Do, Pie Piece, and Reflex Action. His most popular play is Lockdown, a one-act drama set at a high school during a lockdown. Aside from writing, Craven practices Japanese swordsmanship. He resides in Whitby, Ontario.
