Jane Cafarella is an Australian journalist and playwright, whose plays have been produced in Melbourne, Sydney, Hobart, Singaore, London and Aberdeen.
Her first full-length play, e-baby, received three professional productions in as many years and was translated into Turkish, for lodgement at the State Directorate of Theatres in Istanbul.
In Singapore, two of her plays were translated into Tamil for performance in local festivals.
Her journalism career as a columnist, leader writer, section editor, journalism trainer and cartoonist spans 40 years.
Jane is also the author of A New Life Journal (Partridge Press 2012), a collation of her columns about family life that were originally published in The Age from 1993- 2004, (the original mummy blogger!) and later picked up by Quality Time Magazine and the ABC’s Life Matters.
Jane was also a feminist cartoonist, published in The Age and in various books and many government, corporate and community documents. Her cartoon archive is held at the State Library of Victoria.
Jane has recently completed a companion play to e-baby, called d-baby, which is the story of a donor-conceived teenager searching for her true identity, to be produced in 2019/20.
