Julian Fellowes (Baron Fellowes of West Stafford) is an English screenwriter, playwright, director, novelist, and actor. After studying at the University of Cambridge, he then trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. Fellowes first worked as an actor in several television projects before becoming well-known as a screenwriter and director. He is probably best known for creating and writing the hugely popular television series, Downton Abbey.
On stage, Fellowes wrote the libretto for Mary Poppins (2006) and School of Rock (2015), for which he was nominated for a Tony award. In 2016, he also wrote the scripts for the new Half a Sixpence musical and The Wind in the Willows.
