Context
Pugsley Addams is homeschooled, and doesn’t really have any friends outside his family. That’s okay though, because he’s always had his older sister, Wednesday, to play with. If by “play,” one means “scheme with,” and “get tortured by” — which absolutely sounds like fun play to an Addams. Wednesday has a new boyfriend now, however, and apparently no more time or interest in torturing her little brother anymore. Here, Pugsley worries that if Lucas stays interested in his sister, then maybe things will never go back to the way they were. He’ll have no one to play with anymore; he’ll have lost his best friend.
Vocal Notes
In the final lines of the song, the word “weird” may be substituted for “fat,” as it was in the original Broadway production. The actor playing Pugsley should fully really make the audience believe that he enjoys all the weird hijinks he and Wednesday get up to. Don’t shy away from it, have fun!
