Biography
Ambroise Thomas
Best remembered for Mignon and Hamlet, an adaptation of Shakespeare's original, French composer Ambroise Thomas actually wrote more than 20 operas in his lifetime. He studied at the Conservatoire de Paris, where he was appointed professor in 1856, and later became the director, and was responsible for introducing new music and contemporary composers of the 19th century to its students.
