Italian librettist Alessandro Striggio is most well remembered for his libretto to Monteverdi's opera L'Orfeo. He worked in the court of Mantua, and had an excellent musical education, as his father (also called Alessandro Striggio) was a composer, as well as a Renaissance diplomat.
