Biography
Hugh Whitemore
Hugh Whitemore was an English playwright and screenwriter. He initially studied to become an actor at the Royal Academy for Dramatcs Arts (RADA) in London, before turning to writing. He began writing original screenplays for British television, as well as adaptations of classical works. Over in America, he wrote the television screenplays for Concealed Enemies (1984) and The Gathering Storm (2002), both of which won him an Emmy Award. On stage, he is best known for his 1986 play Breaking the Code, which provided a staged biography of the life and tragic death of Alan Turing, the English mathematician responsible for breaking the German enigma code during World War Two.
