John Cameron Mitchell is an American actor, writer, director, and producer who is best known for co-writing and starring in the long-running Off-Broadway rock musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch. In 2001, he reprised his role of Hedwig in the film adaptation of the show. Additional stage credits include the original cast of John Guare’s Six Degrees of Separation, Dickon in The Secret Garden , and The Young Thing in the original cast of Michael John LaChiusa’s musical, Hello Again. In 1992, he earned an Obie Award for his performance as Alexander in Larry Kramer’s The Destiny of Me.
