Carly Simon is an American singer, musician, author and songwriter. She gained popularity in the 1970s after a string of hits and four gold-certified singles. In 1963, Simon became one half of the Simon Sisters with her sister Lucy before continuing on her own as a solo artist eight years later. She won Best New Artist at the 14th Annual Golden Globes and continued her success in 1972 when she penned her most popular song You’re So Vain. In 1977, Nobody Does It Better was written as the theme song for the James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me and her reputation as a famed singer/songwriter was cemented. Throughout her career, Carly Simon went on to win one Academy Award, one Golden Globe, and two Grammys (though she was nominated for 14 Grammys during her illustrious career) and was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022.
Simon began writing music for a variety of movies and TV shows in the 80s and has continued doing so today. Some notable credits include Working Girl, Sleepless In Seattle, Little Black Book and many songs for the Winnie the Pooh Disney franchise. She has signed record deals with prestigious record labels such as Elektra Records, Warner Bros. Records, Columbia Records and Arista Records and has recorded 23 studio albums, two live albums, nine compilation albums and has had 41 singles. She has collaborated and shared the stage with many; Frank Sinatra, Taylor Swift, Janet Jackson and James Taylor to name only a few.
