Gary Adler is an American composer, arranger, and music director best known for his work in musical theatre. A highly versatile artist, he has built a career that bridges Broadway, Off-Broadway, and cabaret, earning acclaim for his sharp wit, memorable melodies, and inventive orchestrations. Adler rose to prominence as the co-composer and co-lyricist of Altar Boyz, the long-running Off-Broadway musical parodying Christian boy bands. Created in collaboration with Michael Patrick Walker (music and lyrics) and Kevin Del Aguila (book), Altar Boyz debuted in 2005 and became a surprise hit, running for over 2,000 performances. The show’s infectious pop-inspired score, clever satire, and heartfelt undertones earned Adler and his team critical praise and a pair of Drama Desk Award nominations for Outstanding Music and Outstanding Lyrics.

Beyond Altar Boyz, Adler has built an extensive career as a music director and arranger for numerous productions and performers. He has frequently worked with the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, providing arrangements and conducting the world-famous Rockettes.
