Fred Saidy
Fred Saidy (1907-1982) was an American screenwriter and playwright. Although Saidy was raised in Los Angeles, California, he would pen the scripts for shows across the country on Broadway such as Bloomer Girl (1944),* Flahooley* (1951) and Finian’s Rainbow (1947), which was arguably his most notable work with several revivals. He was nominated for the Writers Guild of America’s award for best written musical after he wrote the screenplay for Finian’s Rainbow. Saidy was also the writer for Jamaica (1957) which would go on to win the Tony award for best musical that same year.
