German composer Robert Alexander Schumann is perhaps most well remembered for his works for piano, voice, and orchestra. Schumann's compositional style was influenced by contemporary composers such as Franz Schubert, and his time spent studying to be a virtuoso pianist; an ambition which sadly did not come to fruition after an injury to one of his fingers.
Much of Schumann's work is also thought to have been influenced by a turbulent mental and emotional state, and difficulties in family and romantic relationships. He was a prolific composers, and left a huge legacy of works.
