Gabriel writes for and about the stage and screen. His written work is informed by his academic and professional background.
Gabriel has held positions at the Westport Country Playhouse as Education Associate and the City Theatre Company as Literary Assistant. He holds his Master of Fine Arts in Dramatic Writing from Carnegie Mellon University, School of Drama. His Bachelor of Philosophy is from the Honors College at the University of Pittsburgh - where he was a Chancellors Undergraduate Teaching Fellow and a Brackenridge Fellow.
Gabriel's newsletter writing is featured in the Westport Country Playhouse's magazine "Insider's Insight" and in City Theatre Company's "Talk." His feature articles and theatre reviews have appeared in newsprint for the Indiana Printing and Publishing Company. A two-time recipient of the Shubert Fellowship for Studies in Dramatic Writing, his plays have been produced regionally and at Universities. He was a Semi-finalist for the Princess Grace Award in Playwriting and nominated for the Cherry Lane Theatre Mentor Project. His screenwriting has been recognized by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation (finalist).
Gabriel is experienced as a performer, speaker, and presenter as well. He has performed as an actor in over a dozen plays. Served as MC for select events/performances at Westport Country Playhouse (Playmaking). Was Teacher in Playwriting for the Westport Country Playhouse, and Mentor in Playwriting for City Theatre Company. As a TA at Carnegie Mellon and the University of Pittsburgh, he gave featured lectures on topics in theatre.
