Nick Payne is a British playwright and screenwriter.
His first major work, If There Is I Haven't Found It Yet premiered at the Bush Theatre in London in October 2009 to rave reviews; the play began a successful New York run at the Laura Pels Theatre in September 2012. His next play, Wanderlust, was produced at the Royal Court Theatre in September 2010. That same year, Payne was nominated for the Evening Standard's Most Promising Playwright Award.
Payne's most well-known play so far, Constellations, premiered at the Royal Court Theatre on January 13, 2012. The production starred Sally Hawkins and Rafe Spall and was directed by Michael Longhurst. Constellations was later transferred to the Duke Theatre in November 2012. The play won the Evening Standard Award for Best Play and was nominated for the Olivier Award for Best New Play. It has also had successful runs in New York City, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and Toronto.
In August 2013, Payne's play The Same Deep Water As Me was produced at the Donmar Warehouse. Blurred Lines, his next work, premiered January 2014 at the National Theatre's Shed.
In April 2014, Incognito premiered at the Live Theatre. It enjoyed a successful run, later transferring to the Bush Theatre. It was next produced at Manhattan Theatre Club in New York City.
