Analysis
Eteocles is one of the four children of Oedipus, along with Polyneices, Antigone, and Ismene. In Aeschylus’ interpretation of this legend, Eteocles and Polyneices are twin brothers, and therefore both have equal claim to the throne of Thebes after the death of their father.
