Taylor University Theatre

About

Taylor University’s theatre program resides within its Music, Theatre & Dance Department, structured to foster both artistic skill and expressive sensitivity through a variety of undergraduate degree paths, including BA, BFA, BS, and BM, with institutional accreditation through NASM.

Students interested in theatre can opt for a BA in Theatre Arts or a BFA in Musical Theatre, each designed to teach a broad array of skills from acting and directing to stagecraft and dramaturgy, preparing graduates for diverse roles in the theatre industry.

The core curriculum guides students through a progression of foundational and advanced theatre studies—covering history, design, literature, production techniques, and integrative seminar courses that weave theology into the theatre discourse.

Practical production experience is central: students must participate in at least one theatre production per semester, with opportunities to engage further in semi-professional performances—enhancing both technical proficiency and leadership qualities in a real-world setting.

Underpinning the artistic training is Taylor’s liberal arts and Christian ethos, where students are encouraged to explore the theological dimensions of theatre, fostering a holistic education that marries faith, creative expression, and intentional performance.
