Victor Valley College

About
Victor Valley College’s Theatre Arts program is housed within the vibrant Performing Arts Center (PAC) in Victorville, California. Though the college doesn’t offer a dedicated theatre degree, students can take comprehensive theatre coursework—such as Intro to Theatre, Acting, Technical Theatre, Stagecraft, Costume, Makeup, and Rehearsal & Performance Studio—as part of the Fine Arts or Liberal Arts AA degree program. The curriculum blends performance, design, and theatrical appreciation, while emphasizing essential employability and academic skills across disciplines.
The PAC serves as both a learning environment and public performance venue, featuring a 473‑seat Main Stage proscenium theatre and an intimate 120‑seat Black Box theatre. Both are equipped with professional digital sound systems and computer-controlled lighting, providing students real-world training environments. The Black Box space is often used for ensemble-based, experimental, and student-led work.
Each year, students participate in multiple productions—ranging from plays and musicals to community events. The college hosts a regular production calendar including public performances, lecture-demonstrations, and collaborations with local cultural organizations. Students engage in productions from their first term, gaining hands-on experience in acting, design, technical crews, and production work.
The program places strong value on skill transferability. Through ensemble training, students develop communication, collaboration, leadership, and technical competencies that align with broader STEAM education goals. Theatre coursework bolsters proficiency in areas like math, physics, computer science, and visual arts, supporting both academic and creative development.
Situated within a community-centered college, the program also participates in local outreach, youth workshops, and cultural events, reinforcing its role as both educational and regional arts provider. While not a standalone degree, Victor Valley College’s Theatre Arts offerings deliver high-quality, accessible training in performance and production—supporting transfer to four-year institutions or enhancing community and career-ready skills
