Description

Treasure Coast Theatre in Port St Lucie, FL presents the Pulitzer Prize winning play, "The Gin Game" by Donald L. Coburn, a touching, moving, and heart-wrenching story about two people looking back on their long lives.

Weller Martin and Fonsia Dorsey, two elderly residents at a run-down nursing home, strike up an acquaintance. Neither seems to have any other friends, and they start to enjoy each other's company. Weller offers to teach Fonsia how to play gin. The story unfolds over game after game of gin. As the games intensify, Fonsia and Weller come to grips with what is left of their lives, reveal secrets, regrets, and hopes – and sometimes those revelations become weapons.

"The Gin Game" has been performed numerous times on and off Broadway, winning the Pulitzer Prize and a Tony Award in 1978. The two characters have been played through the years by the likes of Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn, Maureen Stapleton and EG Marshall, Julie Harris and Charles Durning, Mary Tyler Moore and Dick Van Dyke, and most recently, by Cicely Tyson and James Earl Jones.

Performances: Friday, February 7 & 14 @ 8pm Saturday, February 8 & 15 @ 8pm Sunday, February 9 & 16 @ 2pm
