A professional 8x10 picture of yourself, focused on your face, which is usually combined with a resume during the audition process.

A large room where people waiting to audition are held until their appointed time.

A live audition in front of people (usually faculty).

A conversation with members of the faculty in order to find out more about the auditioning student.

Permissions granted from a publishing or licensing company for a theatre to produce a show licensed by the company.

Money borrowed from the federal government or private lender to help pay for college and associated costs.

National tours are theatre productions that travel around the country to professional theatre venues and recreate the Broadway experience for local audiences. A show may have a designated touring cast (in some cases, there may be several tours happening at once). If the show closes on Broadway, and the cast begins touring, it is referred to as a “Broadway national tour.”

A type of theatre that, while making money to cover operational costs, does not make a substantial profit.

The Obie Awards or Off-Broadway Theater Awards are annual awards originally given by The Village Voice newspaper to theatre artists and groups in New York City.

Denoting or taking place in a New York City theatre that is smaller than those in the Broadway theatre district and typically stages less expensive/commercial productions.
