Text

(Recognizing he's outvoted)

Oh, all right. But I'll need help. If any of you remember something I've forgotten...

(Wardle stops midsentence.)

Say, I've had the most extraordinary thought...what if we turned this into a pantomime?

[Several: "A what?" "Explain yourself."]

WARDLE: Let's act it out! No one will mistake us for Shakespeareans, but if we twist our imagination into a thousand tangles, the result could be most entertaining.

(PICKWICK: Sounds medieval; I love it!)

WARDLE: We'll improvise, extemporize; impromptu shall prompt us; this parlor shall be our stage. We'll be audience and actors, bringing Grub and the goblins to life for our own amusement!
