Stay, please. Let me explain. Then you can leave if you want to. I gave you away when I was fifteen, there’s no going back on that, it happened. But there hasn’t been a day since when I haven’t thought of you. I don’t mean having you was a mistake, I don’t regret it. I regret not having seen you until now, I regret not having seen you grow up, your first day at school, getting married, having your first child. It broke my heart. I would see little girls out playing and think of you, even wonder if they could be you, one of them. Can you imagine how hard it was knowing I had a daughter somewhere? Don’t go, I don’t want you to go. Stay, now you’re here.
