Start: I’m trying to recall if you said anything clever yesterday. Something I could compliment you on today.

End: This is not to say, dearest wife, that I do not adore you in many other respects. However, this grievance strikes a chord so deadly deep that I must insist we seek a divorce at once. Don’t you agree?
