Context
Two characters overlap, trying to find out what happened leading up to a tragedy. The Teacher has the class guinea pig, now dead in its cage, and is trying to figure out how it died. C.B. is backtracking over the days leading up to the Challenger disaster (in which seven people, including the Teacher, died). While these characters don’t talk directly, their speech complements the investigation the other is pursuing--what led up to death, whether in a classroom or on a national scale?
