Context
Shen Te and Mrs Shin are packing up the contents of the tobacco shop, which Shen Te has just sold to try to earn money for her love, Yang Sun, to travel to Peking for a job. She belatedly learned that Yang Sun does not love her, and has no intention of marrying her, and Mrs Shin remarks that she now has no job, no home and no man.
