Context
Arlene was just paroled from prison and allowed to return to Louisville to be near her family. She has just gotten to a dingy one-bedroom apartment (recently vacated by her sister), and Mother shows up, carrying cleaning supplies and ready to help Arlene get set up in her new home. Mother and daughter have animosity towards each other, and as much as Arlene is trying to remake herself, Mother can’t forget all of the grief and trouble that her daughter caused.
