The peace treaty that ended World War II has just been announced on the radio. Eve and Catherine are celebrating the news. Catherine is excited to see her husband, Billy, again. Eve is ecstatic to have her students return safely home. Janet, refusing to believe the news, is grumping in the corner. She is unable to believe the peace treaty means the end of the war and doesn’t agree with the ladies’ celebrations. Margaret joins the women, overjoyed at the thought of her son returning home safe
