CENTAUR 1 The monster is here! Hunt the wraith down and kill her!
A simulated chase/battle ensues in the dark with the sound of boulders being thrown and trees being snapped in half. Arrows whiz overhead.
CENTAUR 2 We’ll have your head, Beast!
CENTAUR 1 Don’t look her in the face, men!
CENTAUR 3 She’s charging, Commander!
CENTAUR 1 Stone her!
CENTAUR 3 I’ll run my arrows through the serpent!
CENTAUR 2 Let me catch the creature. I’ll slice her wicked throat.
CENTAUR 1 Enough posturing, men! Bring me her head!
CENTUAR 2 Maybe just her eyes will do. I’ll squeeze them to bloody gore in my fists.
CENTAUR 3 Commander! Victory is ours! I’ve got the monster! She’s - (Struggling. Screaming.)
CENTAUR 3’s line is cut short as he is turned to stone. We hear a creature hissing.
CENTAUR 1 The moonlight shines in the demon’s gaze! She’s turning the forest to stone! Retreat!
We hear a crash.
CENTAUR 1 RETREAT!
We hear CENTAURS galloping away.
CENTAUR 2 Next time, Serpent. We’ll get that head.
LUNA relights her flame and we see her face-to-face with a stone centaur. A night-time garden full of statues is revealed onstage. LUNA is hesitant to approach.
