Context
Pharus and AJ are roommates at the prestigious Charles R. Drew Prep School for Boys. Though he never speaks of it, AJ and all his peers are aware of Pharus homosexuality. Pharus is often ostracized by his classmates for his effeminate behavior, but AJ always treats him with respect. Here, AJ and Pharus have an interaction revealing Pharus’s vulnerability around his sexuality, and AJ’s compassionate and understanding nature.
