Text
MANUEL It’s you.
ISABEL It looks like I inspired you.
MANUEL I suppose you did.
ISABEL But you still do not want to love me.
MANUEL I can’t.
ISABEL We’re going to need each other if we want this painting to be seen.
MANUEL I don’t know if I want that anymore.
ISABEL You can’t keep this from people.
MANUEL I should.
ISABEL It doesn’t belong to you. It belongs to art.
MANUEL Maybe it’s something the world shouldn’t see.
ISABEL You don’t believe that.
MANUEL If someone were to discover that art could be dangerous, it would end everything for good.
ISABEL I think you’re afraid to show them what you have.
MANUEL I am not.
ISABEL Then have the viewing here.
MANUEL They would never allow that.
ISABEL Not if you ask for permission.
MANUEL Then no one would show.
ISABEL Not if you let them know that it’s me on that canvas.
MANUEL That’s insane.
ISABEL And if you name it after me.
MANUEL I don’t do dedications.
ISABEL You don’t miss me.
MANUEL No. You’re missing.
ISABEL I don’t want to be unforgotten.
MANUEL My paintings are named by their color.
ISABEL Eternal.
MANUEL They might think of it as a sick tribute and it will tarnish my reputation.
ISABEL Deathless.
MANUEL I thought I hurt you.
ISABEL Immortalized.
MANUEL I’m not going to do it.
ISABEL I thought the only thing you cared about was your work.
MANUEL True.
