Context
In this memory, the Speaker relives an appointment with their therapist in which they are challenged to describe friendships. The therapist feels the weight and responsibility of managing someone’s mental health, while the patient is increasingly dependent upon the therapist--which prompts the therapist to “fire” the patient.
