Context
Big Daddy believes that he has a clean bill of health after a serious medical scare that hinted at the possibility of cancer. He is trying to talk with his youngest son Brick, who has a broken ankle and a serious alcohol problem. Big Daddy is ready to take back his power over his family and straighten out Brick so that the young man might one day take over the family fortune. In this scene, Big Daddy begins to see how serious Brick’s troubles are.
