Context
Sloane the younger lover and lodger of Kath, a middle-aged lady. He is also employed as the chauffeur of her brother, Ed. As the act opens, Sloane is stretched out on the sofa as his gut is playing up due to a night on the beer. Meanwhile, Ed is outside servicing a car...which is Sloane’s job. Kath arrives home from a shopping trip and he tells her about his evening out with the boys. Kath is worried about the female company he was keeping and warns him about the dangers of party girls.

KATH Shopping, dear. Did you want me?
SLOANE I couldn’t find you.
KATH (goes to the window. Takes off her headscarf.) What’s Eddie doing?
SLOANE A bit of servicing.
